How We Use Your Information
We use the collected information for the following purposes:
- To provide and maintain AI assistant services by sending your prompts to your selected AI provider
- To process your voice and text commands and generate AI responses
- To enable Google Calendar integration and Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool calling features
- To save and manage your custom prompts, history, and configuration settings
- To sync your settings, prompts, and history between your iPhone and Apple Watch
- To track token usage and provide usage statistics
- To authenticate and maintain your Google Calendar access when you enable this feature
- To enable contextual AI features such as location-aware and time-aware responses (when tool handling is enabled)
Third-Party AI Services
Prompt Watch integrates with third-party AI services. You must provide your own API keys for these services, and your prompts and data are transmitted directly to them:
- OpenAI (ChatGPT): GPT-4o and other models - Privacy Policy
- Anthropic (Claude): Claude Haiku 4.5, Sonnet, and Opus models - Privacy Policy
- Google (Gemini): Gemini 2.5 Flash and other models - Privacy Policy
- xAI (Grok): Grok 4.1 Fast Reasoning and other models - Privacy Policy
- Perplexity AI: Sonar models - Privacy Policy
Important: Your prompts, conversation history, and any contextual data (location, time, movement) are sent directly to the AI provider you select. We do not store, monitor, or have access to the content of your interactions with these AI services. Each provider processes your data according to their own privacy policies and data retention practices. We strongly recommend reviewing each service's privacy policy to understand how they handle, store, and use your data.
Google Calendar Integration
When you enable Google Calendar integration through OAuth 2.0 authentication:
- Permissions Requested: Full access to read, create, update, and delete calendar events across all your calendars
- Operations Performed: List events, create events (including recurring events), delete events, update events, quick add events (natural language), search events, check free/busy status, and list all calendars
- Data Accessed: Calendar summaries, event descriptions, event times, attendee emails and response status, calendar IDs, access roles, time zones, locations, and attachment metadata
- Token Storage: Access tokens, refresh tokens, and expiration dates are stored locally on your device and synced between your iPhone and Apple Watch
- Authentication Method: OAuth 2.0 authorization with automatic token refresh when tokens expire
- Data Usage: Calendar data is only accessed when you use MCP tool handling features and is sent to your selected AI provider to enable AI-assisted calendar management
- Revoking Access: You can revoke calendar access at any time by signing out of Google Calendar in the app or through your Google Account security settings
- Google's Policies: Calendar data is processed according to Google's Calendar API Terms of Service and Google's Privacy Policy
Data Storage and Security
Local Storage: All your data is stored locally on your device using iOS UserDefaults with app group sharing. This includes:
- API keys for AI service providers
- Google OAuth tokens (access tokens, refresh tokens)
- Prompt history (up to 30 recent interactions)
- Custom prompts and system prompts
- Model configuration and preferences
- Usage statistics and metrics
Cross-Device Sync: Settings, prompts, and history are synchronized between your iPhone and Apple Watch using WatchConnectivity framework. This sync occurs locally between your paired devices and does not involve cloud storage.
Security Measures:
- All API communications use HTTPS encrypted connections
- Data stored on your device is protected by iOS platform-level security (device encryption when your device is locked)
- API keys and OAuth tokens are stored in app-specific storage and not accessible to other apps
- We do not transmit your data to our servers - all communications are directly between your device and the third-party AI services you choose to use
Important Security Notice: Your API keys and Google OAuth tokens are stored in UserDefaults, which relies on iOS system-level encryption. We recommend using device passcode protection and keeping your device software up to date for maximum security.
Data Retention
On Your Device: All data is retained locally on your device until you manually delete it or uninstall the app:
- Prompt History: Limited to 30 most recent interactions. Older interactions are automatically removed when the limit is reached. You can manually clear all history or history for specific providers at any time through the app.
- Custom Prompts: Retained indefinitely until you manually delete them
- API Keys and Settings: Retained until you remove them or uninstall the app
- Google OAuth Tokens: Retained until you sign out of Google Calendar or uninstall the app
- Conversation History: Active conversation context is stored in memory only during your current session and is not persisted after you close the app
With Third-Party Services: Data retention by third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Perplexity) is governed by their respective privacy policies and data retention practices. We have no control over how long these services retain your prompts and responses.
Your Rights and Control
You have complete control over your data:
- Access: All your data is stored locally on your device and accessible through the app interface
- Delete Prompt History: Clear all prompt history or history for specific AI providers at any time
- Delete Custom Prompts: Remove individual custom prompts or all prompts through the app
- Remove API Keys: Delete stored API keys for any AI provider at any time
- Revoke Google Calendar Access: Sign out of Google Calendar integration to remove OAuth tokens from the app
- Disable Tool Handling: Turn off MCP tool handling to prevent sharing of contextual data (location, time, movement)
- Control Cross-Device Sync: Data sync between iPhone and Apple Watch occurs automatically when devices are paired
- Complete Data Removal: Uninstalling the app will permanently delete all locally stored data from your device
- Request Information: Contact us for information about how your data is used
Data We Do NOT Collect
To be transparent about our privacy practices, we want to explicitly state what we do NOT collect:
- We do NOT collect or store analytics data
- We do NOT track your usage patterns on our servers
- We do NOT share your data with advertisers or marketing companies
- We do NOT use third-party analytics services (no Firebase, Amplitude, Mixpanel, etc.)
- We do NOT have access to the content of your AI conversations - they go directly to the AI provider you select
- We do NOT use cloud storage for your data - everything is stored locally on your device
- We do NOT sell your data to third parties
Model Context Protocol (MCP) and Tool Use
Prompt Watch implements Model Context Protocol (MCP) to enable advanced AI capabilities:
- What MCP Does: Allows AI models to use tools (functions) to perform actions like managing your calendar, accessing location data, or retrieving time information
- When It's Used: Only when you enable tool handling in the app settings and select an AI provider that supports MCP
- Data Shared: When MCP is enabled, contextual data such as your location, current time, movement/activity context, and Google Calendar data may be sent to the AI provider along with your prompts
- Your Control: You can disable MCP tool handling at any time in the app settings to prevent sharing of contextual data
- Supported Providers: Tool handling can be enabled independently for each AI provider (Claude, ChatGPT, Gemini, Grok, Perplexity)
